The Red River Meeting House
in Loagan County, Kentucky.
It was here that the “Second Great Awakening”,
a religious revival, began in the early 19th century
spreading like wild fire East and North. It
spawned many new church denominations, as well as reform movements, that shaped
America' s political landscape well into the 20th century. The
Red River
Meeting
House Association meets every year in October to remember,
reenact, and renew “our
traditional Christian heritage.” A group will
gather this winter to describe these historical and religious events but, more
importantly,
to meditate on what
is the meaning of that era in shaping not only their beliefs but also their political
choices.
A view of the entire journey.
